DDT and Chums

Someone once said "believe in it enough and it might happen", it may have been one of my parents as an easy fob off for not buying me something, however after the last 3 months of waking up in the morning and hoping , and the general moaning about how how can it be the "harshest winter ever" (tabloid quote) without it.
Sion monobrowed since 2001
Well today it happened, it snowed. Not much but enough to make even the griminess of campus look considerably better. Proving that anything with snow on looks good, even the always overflowing bins looked inviting to fish a handful of snow out of. Anyway i had my fun as Sion was an easy unsuspecting target, so it can just melt now before my fishing trip this weekend (having a hangover on it will be bad enough).
Wednesday seems to have been a bit of a fateful day, getting my latest set of dissertaion results i realised that nothing seemed to be happening right, 20 minutes later i'm suddenly offered the chance to change my project to concentrate on pesticides rather than therapeutics. 10 seconds later i'm fishing 6 of the most fun looking (aka toxic) pesticide vials from the poisons cabinet. Cue one french week later i'm finished for the day with almost the same amount of data as i had from 4 weeks of previous work. Obviously deservadly requiring the phrase "chalk it up" (in joke) and a beer.
Only one thing stands between me now and a good dissertation: a highly addicitive 3 foot boy dressed all in green with a fairy (yes i've joined the ultimate perversions club). Obviously Link from his better days on the N64 (they made games better in those days).
ACDC seems to be (p)owning my laptop play time at the minute, unfortuantly it still hasn't cleared the GnR from my head. This sentance made me realise how i spend way too much time in the lab as i just started to think of my head as a giant HPLC (Guide) with GnR being retained on the column and requiring a stronger solvent to shift , how strong you ask? well i'm sure i'll find out tomorrow night ;)
Finally any celebrity reality/talent show, what a load of rubbish.

Mine English Good Thanks!

So Andy why are you writting your blog at 2am when you have a full day in the labs tomorrow, hmmm very good question, most likley as an adverse effect of drinking way too much coffee.
Well this week so far is off to a good start, in fact it has been so propsperous i'll may well be striking gold by thursday ( i've a feeling theres a gold seam hidden behind my wardrobe).
Today brought the continuation of the champions leagues, well recently soccer or how its more correctly known footie! has been very much eclipsed by rugby (both watching and playing), however i rummaged deep in my wardrobe (finding a few nuggets of gold ) and pulled out my old arsenal strip, then did the old closet supporter thing and went and supported them for their big match (which they went a won).
Am begining now to gear myself up for a crazy weekend of hitting the clubs and then fishing, (better descriptions after they've happened).
Finally no matter how hard i try "live and let die" by GnR,will not get unstuck from my head, often leaving me unconsciousley singing it in an Axl style much to the amusment of passers by.
Biggest recent rant was directed to Sion after his criticism of my unique grasp of the english language (sorry sion where's your blog, eh!)but on comparisson with the skills of the rest of my 60 million countrymates i'm sure i'm sitting nicely in the above average section .

Week perception of time

Oops first post since last week, where has the last week gone, one minute i was sat in the pub with Sion last friday the next i'm doing the same thing but a week later.
Well its speed of passing may have been due to its general uneventfulness, all of my lectures were of stuff i already knew, i've finally got some hard results for my dissertation and i had my last Surrey Seconds rugby game (which we lost 21-0 and also got 2 yellow cards).

Me risking all the stingray comments to play rugby

Tuesday night saw the regular trip for pool and then i somehow ended up drinking "organic" cider, when i was sure i ordered Lion Red ?, spent a lot of that evening giving advice to Harv for his upcoming date (the lovemaster at work, on valentines day no less).
But thats about it and so another week ends and the title counter ticks down, although i have no exact date of departure yet. (infact i have planned very little so far).
Ok promise something more interesting next week, its just this week has been unsually boring.

Rucking, Virtual Style!

To be honest with you i don't really think i deserve a weekend this week since i have been a lazy bastard, but since i don't have a choice as to wether its the weekend or not i shall just have to enjoy it.
Thurday went from 4 hours of lectures to 1 hour not that i minded as i was feeling pretty dodgy all day and sat in bed for most of the day. Then finished the day with a mini tour d'stade with Sion. My current level of fitness still continues to astound me.
Also my Invader Zim DVDs have returned ( a xmas present that did'nt work first time round) so heres a screenie (Monkey!)

Friday was the day myself and Sion have been waiting for for over a month now, the day EA Rugby 2006 was released, the day was spent then between the pub for a couple of beers at a time and the playstation. Fortunatly my great skills from the previous incarnation of rugby did'nt desert me leading to a complete grand slam of Sion when playing as the chiefs.

After chalking up another PS2 win to andy, sion's anger begins to set the wall alight

We also watched the Torino opening ceremony (only to see the torch lighting ), debatable wether it was 3 hours wasted or not (roll on the curling). Finally found this classic soundboard
http://www.ebaumsworld.com/super-mario-soundboard.html

After debating in the pub the name and the artist of a song we'd both heard in the late 90's i promptly went home and found it , Len with "Steal my Sunshine".
Back into my ranting ways with the discussion on lack of fire alarms in bars.

Lion Juice

Decade - 10 years
Decimeter - 10cm
Decapost - 10th post (also known as post X)
Well another mid week weekend has rolled by with as little event as usual.
Monday saw a full day spent working, i'm getting good at this now shame i started a bit late and now only have 3 weeks before results are due.
Tuesday was highlighted by a great lecture on the forensics of fire (as a childhood pyromaniac it was fascinating), all i can say is beware the HCN. The evening then saw a near miracle, after Sion constanly claiming he'd be going jogging that evening every other day for the last 4 months, the event finally happened, shame he could only manage to match my pace for 5 minutes before going home for a lie down. After he'd recovered it was time for the usual tuesday night pool in which i won a record number of victories (3). Then as a change we headed to lloyds (or spoons) where i was reintroduced to an old friend(or several of them), Lion Red.
Myself and Sion then spent a good 2 hours trying to convince Harv to quit working a tecos and go see the world.

Harvey holder of some of the dodgiest porn sites ever.

Today was a cancelled day, both doing more lab work and rugby got cancelled at the last minute leaving me a day where i should have finished off courseworks but instead ending up watching 18 episodes of Monkey Dust, which is an awesome british animated comedy which sees my motherland with much the same disillusioned eyes as me.
All's uneventful really, have found a potential new flatmate for next year howeverwhich saves me a lot of effort and running around later on.Remenisced over the 90s by downloading Scatmans world by scatman jones then after listening to it once deleted it.
And have been too tired or busy to rant properly.

Scottish Spin

Sunday the day of rest, todays activities included: (in no particular order)

Watching Peep Show Season 2
Doing my 2 weeks overdue washing up
Playing (and narowly loosing (3 times)) Pro Evo
Watching Princess Mononoke (at 3am in the morining)
Sleeping in until midday
Editing last nights post for all its spelling mistakes
Cleaning my bin (also overdue as it was growing mold)
Watching the Scotland-France Rugby match
Eating a Curry
Accidently dropping my flatmates tea towel into dirty bin filled with hot water.
Watching the first hour and a half of King Kong
Debating whether to do work and then being lured into watching above entry instead
Secretly hoping scotland would lose so i could laugh at Sion
Tidying my Flat
Eating 2 bowls of weetabix
E-mailing people
Celebrating the scottish win with Sion
Putting my dirty rugby socks in the communal bathroom to stop my room from smelling
Crashing my laptop
Annoying flatmates by laughing loudly
Listening to MC Hammer and learning the bass riff on my guitar
Moaning about the need to do washing tomorrow
Burning CDs and
Making stuff up to make my blog look fuller

Why does it seem to me that after this supposed day of rest i'm going to need another day to recover.

Sporting chance

Well its the end of a pretty uneventful week, and the middle of a weekend of sport, NZ Sevens, 6 nations, Superbowl and Torino, thus meanng that once again my weekend beer count rises above recommended limits.
Thursday was a bit of a write off with lectures most of the day and being knackered in the evening.
Friday morning after failing to set my alarm i missed my morning lecture (not planned at all), with the rest of the day being spent wasted finishing watching rome, whilst a few beers in the evening and some awesome fahitas (made by me!)was the highlight.
Saturday began with a really weird dream about a insurance firm creating a giant spider as an example of a liability (i dont know why) then some mornings work as i created the greatest animation ever to explain solid phase extraction for my upcoming presentation on it (am not looking forward to it).
Then to the pub for 5 hours of rugby with Sion, Harv and some of the guys from the 2nds, played it as the neutral supporter though, i just dont feel any patrioism for england any more i'm just looking forward to leaving in 5 months time (for good).

Even Luke knows Sion is a two push charlie

After rugby we headed back to Sion and his flat mate Lukes. Played pro evo (loosing every game) and chatted to his flatmate Mary Jane (shes really cool).

"Hitchin a ride" by Greenday has been my most played song whilst i was really chuffed to learn the solos from "knocking on heavens door" by GnR on my guitar.
A very calm and rant free couple of days though.

Busy/Lazy

Its the middle of the week already! time seems to fly wether i do bugger all allday or work my guts out, this basicly being what has happend for the last two days.
I now know why monday was so unproductive it was the large breath in before the big exhale of putting in a full 8 hours of work on tuesday. Thus marking the first full day of work i have done since leaving New Zealand 7 months ago, am slightly more happy with my work situation now especially as i have had an autosampler fitted to my HPLC for my dissertation, meaning my workload has effectivly been halved. Also i'm in a good position for all my essays (mainly because they are all simple to write). I celebrated by having a night in watching an animated masterpeace "Howls moving castle" (Sooooo good) and i also decided today would be a rest day (also my Rugby match was canceled ). Unfortunatly meaning i have been hooked on a TV series called Rome (Ancient history rocks).
The Beer detox is prematurely over although for good reasons, tuesday night was spent with Harv and Sion playing pool and its an unwritten law (just like murder) that beer must be drunk whilst playing pool. I always seem to play better after a beer anyway. Although to counteract this i went on a healthy shopping trip today( £7 of unhealthy food , £3 of fruit and veg).

Since people are screaming (due to being drunk ) outside it seems like a good time to point out my continuing rant about my campus flat being placed on the main exit path from the union. especially when some drunk people decide to play knock and run (although when i do this to other campus rooms wheni'm drunk its always in good humour and everyone finds it funny).
I have been recently dredging my music collection for gems i havn't listened to in a while and rediscovered the classic "Scratch" by Allister (pop punk will never die).
